Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. A lot of people who aren't aware of they mistakenly believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact the West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. When she was a child, she wanted to be the next big thing in her career, but a sudden increase in her height made it difficult. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. After I became too big for my male companions, I quit. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. For Brugel it was because of the advice by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to the path she wanted. It was the teacher who recommended she pursue a role for the annual school production. The audition was successful and she was chosen in the role of Anne of Green Gables. She was given the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program, where she graduated from the program in 2000, earning a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work has been featured on both the small and big screen. She gained the most recognition when she landed her role as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
